CODE OF PRACTICE FOR MANAGING SARS-CoV-2 EXPOSURE IN THE WORKPLACE

  • The version gazetted and in force since June 2022 has been republished with a slight correction, which adds is a reference to the March 2022 regulations on hazardous biological agents.

 

BASIC CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT ACT

  • The National Minimum Wage Commission has issued a Government Gazette notice extending the deadline for comment on proposals for determining minimum employment conditions and wages for community healthcare workers.

 

NEW NATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT: BIODIVERSITY ACT

  • The Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment has gazetted five notices of which:
    • three focus on iconic wild animals:
    • the other two:
      • updating the regulations on terrestrial and freshwater species, and
      • revising the list of terrestrial and freshwater species either threatened or protected (along with related restricted and/or prohibited activities, and restricted activity exemptions).

 

HAZARDOUS HOUSEHOLD WASTE MANAGEMENT

  • The Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment has called for input on a draft strategy for hazardous household waste management. Once finalised it will be used by municipalities as a starting point for developing their own strategies.

 

FOODSTUFF LABELLING AND ADVERTISING

  • The Department of Health has called for ‘substantive’ input on a comprehensive set of draft regulations to replace those in force since 2010.

 

OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY

  • The Department of Employment and Labour has gazetted new major hazard installation regulations notice, replacing those in force since 2001.
